CONVERSION OF AUTOMOBILE TYRES
to fuel oil
There is a continuous accumulation of worn splints, basically with a metal cord, and only about 20 % from the whole is processed. Worn splints represent the most large-capacity production of the waste products containing polymer which practically have not been the subject to natural decomposition. That is why the thorough revision and secondary use of the splints which have left operation have the important economic and ecological value.
Splints represent valuable polymeric raw material: about 700 kg of gum which can be reutilized for manufacture of fuel, industrial rubber goods and materials of building destinations is contained in 1 ton of splints. At the same time at combustion of 1 ton of worn splints 270 kg of carbon black and 450 kg of noxious gases are secreted in an atmosphere.
The highest level of a thorough revision of worn splints reached in Japan (99 %) and Germany (88,4 %). In countries CIS the thorough revision of worn splints is on a low level owing to absence of intrinsically safe equipment for their thorough revision.
Recently waste products of solid organic materials, including worn tyres (covers), draw attention as a potential source of obtaining of an oil stock and fuel more and more.
PRODUCTION PROCESS
Manufacture will consist of sections:
- stock room (worn motor tyres);
- plot of preparation of raw material (cutting of splints on a tear-out);
- plot of a thorough revision of motor tyres;
- finished product storages: a warehouse of liquid fuel, a warehouse of carbon, a plot of warehousing of a metal scrap (metal cord).
The feed stock is collected and will be taken by a truck on a stock room. Further the tires and tubes are examined for availability of metal discs, rings and directed on cutting. After cutting the ground raw material is filed in a receiving hopper of the reactor.
The raw material in the reactor is exposed to decomposition at the temperature of 450 °C during which intermediates are received: gas, liquid-fuel fraction, the carbonaceous rest (remainder) and metal cord. Gas in part is returned in a furnace for maintenance of process. The rest of gas is burnt till the end in a plume. The carbonaceous rest (remainder) after blanking out and refrigerating is exposed to magnetic separation with the purpose of branch of a strand (wire) of a metal cord.
Liquid fuel, metal cord and the carbonaceous rest (remainder) are departed on a warehouse for the further shipment to the consumer.
