Review of the OUKITEL K3 Smartphone Stylish “Heavyweight

If you are a successful person, the OUKITEL K3 has the best business style with amazing features for all to use. This phone has style, performance, and reliability.

The phone looks unusual because, in addition to the stylish look, stiff, shiny metal frame and the presence of 4 cameras, it weighs as much as 209 grams. For more information on the handset from $139, please see our review.

Standout Features

  • Operating system: Android 7.0, the ability to work with 2G, 3G, 4G (LTE) networks, with a combined slot for Nano SIM – Nano SIM / MicroSD card
  • Screen 5.5 inches, with Full-HD resolution, IPS matrix – Color depiction set at the highest level
  • The glass is made according to the 2.5D technology
  • The processor is a 64-bit, 8-core MediaTek MT6750T, with a Mali T860 MP2 graphics accelerator.
  • The only physical button on the front panel is a fingerprint scanner
  • Installed flash memory 64 GB and 4 GB of operating memory
  • Finally the camera – In this smartphone, there are 4. The manufacturer said that it is a pair of cameras “16 + 2 Mp”, AnTuTu was able to see only 2 cameras at 16 megapixels
  • Looking ahead: the quality of the photo is decent, except for night shooting
  • The battery is 6000 mAh

Equipment

The package the K3 Smartphone arrives in is decent as the manufacturer took care of every detail. For example, the phones pre-glued with films on both sides. The phones placed in a protective package, which guarantees protection from scratches and minor defects during transportation.

Of course, the manufacturer also made certain it has additional protection because the kit comes with a durable soft-touch plastic case (received on the K3) and a protective film for the screen.

In the rest the package, everything is standard: a clip, instructions, and a charger with a cable. However, the manufacturer has an added surprise the OTG cable.

Design

The uniqueness of the device emphasizes its appearance. The device looks unusual. Yes, it’s still a smartphone made of glass and metal, but there’s something in it that says “I’m business class.” In the hand, the device is comfortable, despite the rather large dimensions: 155.7 x 77.7 x 10.3 mm and weight of 209 grams.

This is due to the presence of a 5.5-inch screen and a large 6000 mAh battery. This adds weight to the phone. On the market, the phone is available in 2 colors, blue and black. We received a black model.

The OUKITEL K3 is made of premium materials – glass and metal. The front and back covers are made of glass, the latter being very sensitive, even to prints. We recommend using a cover or bumper. The phone’s biggest attraction points found on the back panel and look very elegant and pleasant.

The side frames made of metal. Nothing creaks and exhibits a feeling of reliability and completeness. The frame is thick, to hold the large battery. There is a hybrid slot for a SIM card and memory cards on the side since it does not have a foldable design.

At the bottom of the case, there are a micro USB port, a microphone, and a speaker. The sound is very loud and good, without the wheezing sound when listening to music, making a call and watching a video. A good-quality speaker is located in the usual place – above the screen, next to the cameras, light sensors, and proximity switches. Under the screen, you find the device control buttons one physical and one combined with the scanner fingerprint, two – touch, with no backlight.

The fingerprint scanner works quickly, without noticeable “hangs,” or recognition errors.

Connectivity

Thanks to the hybrid tray, the user can choose to use 2 SIM cards, or a bunch of SIM cards + memory cards. Everything depends on personal preferences. Some may be slightly disappointed with such a decision (although, in truth, it’s pretty standard), but, according to the editorial board, 53 GB of built-in storage is more than enough for everyday tasks.

The smartphone supports different ranges: 2G, 3G, and 4G (2G: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz, 3G: 900/2100 MHz, LTE-FDD: B1/B3/B7/B8/B20). For a week of testing, no problems with the network occurred, it even catches signal in the subway.

Including you, get Internet (3G). The Wi-Fi operates according to the 802.11b/g/n standard, which ensures a good, uninterrupted connection, even at a decent distance from the transmitter. Everything is limited only by the characteristics of the router itself.

Support for Bluetooth 4.1 is available and allows you to connect your smartphone with a variety of Bluetooth devices (smart watches, smart home appliances and of course headphones.) Problems with navigation did not arise.

Even when not calibrated – the position on the map displayed with the utmost precision, completely repeating the route of the trip.

Display

The OUKITEL K3 has a high-quality 5.5-inch Full HD display, with excellent viewing angles. The pictures haven’t blurred, clear, with the outstanding colors, with a slight loss of brightness.

The density is 480 PPI and supports 5 simultaneous touches. We noted a slight overestimation of contrast, without substantial roughness. Has a bright color display made available by the merit technology MiraVision?

Protected glass Asahi Glass Dragon Trail based on 2.5D technology with a protective coating. However, there is a feeling that during the week of use the coating has disappeared.

The strength of this phone is its brightness and absence of fading at different viewing angles. Visibility under direct sunlight does not disappear even at 80% brightness.

Hardware

The phone’s brainpower is standard for this price segment. The phone has a MediaTek MT6750T 8-core chip with a frequency of 1.5 GHz, a graphic Mali-T860 chip and 4 GB of RAM. In the benchmark “AnTuTu,” the smartphone scored a well-deserved 41,931 points.

In principle, this is not bad, because models with such hardware gain a slightly smaller number of points (mostly 40 – 40.5 thousand points).

Geekbench, in turn, issued the following indicators 618 points, working on one core (which is 30% worse than Nexus 5 2015) and 2,483 points in multi-core mode, which is better than One Plus One (one of the strongest phones of 2015) and only slightly inferior to Motorola Nexus 6 (2550 points).

The OUKITEL K3 has a very good reserve taken up by big games – Gangster: New Orleans, Asphalt 8, Asphalt Extreme, and Godfire: Rise of the Prometheus. Further, it has some modest games such as Angry Birds and Slither.Io.

Memory

The device has a 64 GB flash drive, expandable up to 128 GB, using a MicroSD memory card, or even with unlimited limits, using the OTG interface. With this move, the user is available to get about 53.5 GB of internal memory, which will be enough even for fans to “collect files, photos, music.”

For example, a folder with the music of good quality with 300 songs takes about 8 GB. According to the camera specs – this memory is enough for about 27.8 thousand pictures.

Cameras

In the K3 there are 4 cameras installed. As already mentioned, there are two pairs of 16 + 2 Mp on both sides of the phone. At a resolution of 16 megapixels, pictures of 4608 x 3456 are obtained. On the Internet, it is said that the OUKITEL K3 has 13 Mp modules “Samsung S5K3L8 CMOS ISOCELL,” with outbursts from 13 to 16 Mp. In turn, AnTuTu shows the presence of 2 cameras at 16 megapixels. You can view photos taken on K3 below.
As you can see, the quality is definitely good, especially if we consider the price. In the shooting modes, you can find the following: portrait mode, HDR, and SLR. The camera module also supports autofocus. Furthermore, the camera has the selfies photo feature.
The user will be able to change the photo before the photo is taken, using the “beauty photo,” “peeling,” “facelift,” “whitening,” and “big eyes” modes. For fans of wide photos – there is a special “Panorama” mode.
“Night shooting” leaves much to be desired, despite the different ISO settings. Increased coarseness, poor photo quality, poor focus – all this and more can be found in the absence of a suitable light source.
The flash, of course, solves this problem a little, but everything is not as it should be. With day image capturing the cameras beyond compare. The example provides a “day”, “night,” “night with a flash” version of the same object:

The quality of photos and videos directly depends on the quality of lighting (This rule, by the way, is inherent in shooting indoors and outdoors, for example – on the photo below). The colors are transmitted correctly, and naturally. There are no blur or color changes. The image remains bright, saturated, and contrasting, as it should be.

The front camera (16 + 2 megapixels) – was great taking good quality photos. Here, too, there is an autofocus, in no way inferior to that on the main ones. The photos are taken in the resolution of 3456 x 4608, and the video, in turn, only in 640 x 480 resolutions, which, in principle, is more than enough for video calls, for example, via Skype.

Video shooting is a separate topic. If the photos are taken in the resolution 4608 x 3456, the video, at the maximum setting is in the FullHD mode. At what an honest 30 frames per second are given out. Color reproduction and focusing are excellent.

Autofocus in the video is generally a separate topic. Here it is high quality. There has been rarely an occasion where the camera did not focus. Most often, the focus itself occurred in a few milliseconds.

Operating System and Applications

The OUKITEL K3 uses “pure” Android 7.0. Sources on the Internet are available to upgrade to Android 8.1 in the near future. Everything works smoothly and without “sticking.” Responsiveness is pleasant and there are no complaints.

All the settings, all the chips of the Android are present. There is an opportunity to put the “launcher” of “Pixel,” from the “premium” line Google, although it cannot yet be done officially, via Google Play, you can download it on the Internet. This will give you the pleasure of working with a great system from Google. That’s exactly what we did.

The “Stock” applications provide normal viewing of photos and videos. For it uses Google – “Photo” and replaces the familiar “Gallery.” You can install a more convenient player to watch videos.

For example, you can download the MX Player or VLC for Android. Both these players are perfect, work on the phone from the official Google Play store, and available in free versions. Well, which application to choose is up to you?

What was surprising is a built-in “File Manager,” which allows you to view all the files stored on the device. This feature is convenient, modest, and requires no additional downloads. The phone is also equipped with additional programs from Google – Duo, Maps, Music, and YouTube.

To remove a screenshot – just touch the screen 3 times with your fingers at the same time. However, the main feature of the device in our opinion is the presence of the wake-up and shutdown function. As well as having a “smart awakening,” that disables the possibility of accidental inclusion in the pocket. Other, additional functions in the “assistant,” was not found.

Perhaps the list of “utilities” will expand with the upcoming update. There is not a HOT NOT for data exchange.

For the testing period, there was no “jams”, “glitches”, “hangs”, or “brakes” noticed. This was tested by using the phone, interface, playing games, watching videos and other things. The 4 GB of RAM is enough for everything.

Games

Games are an important part of leisure when it comes to Smartphones. We can say with confidence that absolutely everything goes here – even the most modern ones. When they are used, there is no discomfort. The gyro in them works well, smoothly, and without jerks, as expected.
For example, playing the newest Asphalt Extreme is a real pleasure. The quality of the display is excellent, everything goes without “brakes” and “jams.”
What can I say about the simpler games, like Slither.Io, everything goes smooth and responsive? The sensor responds to each touch.

You can play hardcore games to simple games and they are smooth and responsive. The sensor responds to each touch.

Battery and Power Consumption

Finally consider, this “a perfect” battery. Few flagships can boast of using an honest 6000 mAh battery. The battery is a standard lithium-ion.

The charger that comes with the kit (9V/2A) has an amazing shape. A full charge according to the manufacturer is from 0 to 100% in just 2 hours and 40 minutes. This, of course, is not one of the highest records, but in real-life testing, the smartphone charged from 5% to 30% in just 40 minutes.

Given the total battery capacity, even this charge is enough to use the phone all day, without the need of recharging.

According to official data, the Oukitel K3 is capable of withstanding the following loads: video viewing: 11 hours, 40 hours of talk time, 12 hours in game mode, 15 hours in photo mode, 48 hours of music, 24 hours of GPS and 25 hours of social networks.

At the same time, the total “idle time” can reach 400 hours (16.5 days). Unfortunately, the total time in standby mode could not be checked, but here are the actual figures for using the phone:
During 8 hours and 40 minutes of YouTube viewing (with automatic resolution selection) via Wi-Fi, with a backlight brightness level of 75%, the smartphone “used” only 78% of the charge, which is very close to the declared 11-hours.
When watching a video on YouTube, at a brightness of 50% and a viewing time of 30 minutes 4.5% of the charge, with increasing brightness to 100% – 6% of the charge.
When viewed through the player – a 46-minute FullHD roller discharges the device by 7% at 50% brightness, and by 8% charge, at 100% brightness.
With the combined use of the phone (20 minutes of video, 45 minutes of playing in Asphalt Extreme, AnTuTu tests, Geekbench, video recording (5 minutes) and photo – 20 minutes + idle at 26 hours), only 19% of the charge disappeared.
In this case, the sensor reports that the level of charge is sufficient for 4 days of operation in this mode, which is solid, even for a battery of this volume
There is an energy-saving mode, reducing the power consumption, performance, limited vibration, sounds, GPS, background applications, and data transfer.

This is a useful feature if you completely forget about charging the phone, or, with a long non-communication with others.

Conclusions
