Review of Uhans MX or Frameless Evolution
The smartphone Uhans MX is clearly designed to demonstrate to the public that a smartphone with a fashionable “especially frameless” design does not necessarily have to cost 1.5 times more expensive than classic phones with similar features.
The specialists of Uhans have brought an “evolutionary” solution. The device looks like a legendary Mi Mix from Xiaomi, but it is equipped with an old good multi-functional button “Home”.
Also, in the upper part of the case of Uhans MX, there is a small indentation for placing the speaker. True, front camera with sensors no longer existed there and had been placed in the lower left corner (in the original “Mix”, they are on the right).
Release date and cost
The presentation of the device took place on September 20, 2017 and the acceptance of applications for a preliminary order started on the 25th of the same month. The first Uhans MX will go to their owners before October 22. At the moment, the device is only available in black.
“The issue price” is only 89.99 US dollars (about 5200 rubles or 2400 UAH.), which makes the new Uhans MX, perhaps, the most affordable “extra frame” smartphone in the second half of 2017. Competitors are significantly more expensive.
Briefly about hardware and software
As expected, Uhans MX is based on the cheap platform Mediatek MT6580. Currently, it is clearly outdated (32-bit processor, slow GPU, lack of support for LTE networks), but as a budget smartphone, its grace is still undeniable.
But the RAM inside the MX was set to maximum – 2 Gb, and the built-in drive – 16 Gb, and not 8 Gb. Also, there is the possibility to add a microSD memory card up to 128 Gb. The only nuance is the slot is hybrid (either nano-SIM + nano-SIM, or nano-SIM + microSD).
Following another trend that has been followed for two years, the creators of Uhans MX equipped their creation with a dual main camera 8.0 Mp + 2.0 Mp with a powerful flash. The only function of the second module is imitation of the “background blur” effect.
Despite the compact size, the smartphone has a battery capacity of 3000 mAh and a 3.5 mm jack for headphones and headsets. The firmware is based on the “clean” Android 7.0 Nougat, which can generally be regarded as a plus. Finally, the system is not congested with garbage from the manufacturer and should work quickly.
• An outdated and generally slow 32-bit processor.
• Lack of support for 4G LTE networks.
• Hybrid slot for microSD memory cards.
For its money, Uhans MX is an excellent substitute to frameless flagships. Despite the more than affordable price tag, it looks very decent and can even boast about a number of useful chips, such as, the double camera and the fingerprint scanner.
