Various versions of Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 became the most popular Chinese smartphones in 2016. It was not possible to spoil the statistics, even confusion with a mass of various modifications. Customers like this gadget regardless of the installed processor, the amount of RAM and the camera module. And what else to expect from a smartphone with high-quality components, good assembly and price below the basement copies of European devices – about 8 thousand rubles?

But the company decided not to stop there and released an update of the line – Redmi Note 4. The novelty received a new design, processor and a fresh version of the operating system. Let’s see how this affected the version with 3 GB of operative and 64 GB of permanent memory

Hardware platform

It was the processor that led to the emergence of a mass of variants of Redmi Note 3. In the updated version of the smartphone, Xiaomi engineers in the choice between Qualcomm and MediaTek preferred the products of the latter.

The basis of Redmi Note 4 was once the flagship platform MediaTek Helio X20: 10 cores, a good video accelerator, fast work with memory. Multi-core technology contributes to high energy efficiency, slow battery consumption and high operating speed.

More recently, the Helio X20 has shown excellent results in synthetic tests, pushing many other solutions to the background. Now the platform is much inferior to Qualcomm’s solutions in terms of these indicators, but there will be enough real productivity for the next year or two.

Battery life

Another important parameter that determines the relevance of the device. The built-in 4,100 mAh battery allows Redmi Note 4 to work long. True, before Xiaomi Max and Leagoo Shark 1 the results are a little below. But the operating time from one charge is still much higher than that of competitors.

So, when watching movies at medium brightness through Wi-Fi or from internal memory, Redmi Note 4 works up to nine hours.

The inclusion of LTE (in good reception conditions) reduces this figure to seven hours. If you replace the movie with a three-dimensional shooter, for example World Of Tanks, the work time will be five hours – a very good result.

In mixed mode of use (the included wireless interfaces, several calls, a couple of hours of correspondence in messengers and social networks, to the hour of music and video) the device easily lives up to 20 hours.
